This little Sun Jelly is doing it's own version of Hang Time. Just Hanging out waiting for the next Ebb or Flow of the surf to move it along. I just love painting these Sun Jellies! There's just something so relaxing and serene about them, yet they are full of lie and color. Makes me just want to sit there for hours and watch a whole tank full of them floating around. Karen is an intuitive artist with an innate connection to the universe. Turning mediative visions into mesmerizing paintings.
Using only a palette knife and bold colors Karen’s painting are intended to draw you in and caressing you like a lover. Sensual and tantalizing, whimsical and teasing, with curves that ebb and flow. Her pieces have been described as cosmic, relaxing yet full of energy, intuitive, erotic, fantasy, peaceful, organic and come from deep within her. You can feel her interconnectedness to the universe, she captivates you with her use of emotion, color and swirling tendrils that are a big part of her and her artwork.
Karen’s goal is for the viewer to find their own unique interpretation in her paintings. To let the imagination run free for a while and connect with their inner most feelings.

They Twist, Turn and get Entangled with each other.

And All Around.
I Love all the Curves these morphing "Jellies" have.

I have a series in a softer, more muted palette also.
I can't remember a time that I didn't have an artistic pursuit but I found my true love with painting. Although I enjoy exploring with different techniques and materials, I primarily work in oils with an abstract style. Thick paint placed with a palette knife and strong geometric shapes are often found in my paintings.
After earning a degree in Business Admin/Marketing, I went on to several "Big Girl" corporate jobs and then owned and ran a design business in Hawaii, importing antiques from the mainland. My education was rounded out through the UC Berkeley Extension Art Program and the College of Marin Art and Design Program. I am fortunate to have had wonderful instructors as well as the insightful critiques of my fun, fellow painters.
