I've been in a creative Funk!
Partly because the days are short and my energy is low.
Partly because I've been
learning/teaching myself to paint glass and
none are suitable for viewing yet.

When I am in a Really BIG creative Funk I turn to painting the Sun.
I don't know what it is about the Sun?
But it is the one thing that I can sit down and start off the same
way every time and just let them flow out of me.
Each one comes out in it's own unique way and I never have
a clue as to what it is really going to look like
until the muse says to me I am finished.
They don't take me very long to do and they are quite relaxing to paint.
I Love their fiery color and the wonderful texture they get
due to my use of the palette knife.

As the winter solstice is upon us
and deep in the dark of the longest night
Sing to the newborn Sun
and may this fiery Sun Storm warm you from within.

Please feel free to hang out in the warmth and energy of this sun
and then pass it along to someone else
who might be in the need of the it's energy as well.

As the Shortest day of the Year approaches
I start to Dream in
SunFlowers.
Must have something to do with
only seeing the sun
for a few hours each day.
To me, the Sun is Mecca, something I desperately need
on a daily basis.
The sun gives my Energy and Life.
With the short days upon us,
I need the
Happiness and Cheer
these wonderful sunny flowers bring to me.

"ThreeSome" is one of my "vision paintings.
They Twist, Turn and get Entangled with each other.
They Flow Up and Down
And All Around.
I Love all the Curves these morphing "Jellies" have.
They
Mesmerize me for hours,
your not sure where one Jelly finishes and the next one starts?
They must be from the Era of
Free Love?
Do you agree?

Tumbling 2, Original Oil Painting by Karen Balon

Tumbling 2 from the Tumbling Series of 4 paintings
Each piece is 12"x12" Oil on Canvas

Tumbling 2 is actually the First of the 4 that I painted.  If you compare bodies of the 4 paintings this one is more "speckled" as are #3 and #4 compared to #1.  Number 2's body is slightly larger than the rest.  Again I am not sure why?  But somewhere deep inside the muse just guides me intuitively and that is the way it comes out on the canvas. I can never paint the same way twice which is fine as each "jellyfish" is different and has it's own unique personality.
Yes, I do refer to them as jellyfish even though they started out as a vision in my head and have morphed over time.  I actually see them as residing in both the Ocean and Deep Space.  You are welcome to see them as something else or somewhere else.
You may ask why I numbered this one number 2?  To me it just feels like it follows number 1 and is starting to tumble head over heels.  What do you think?

Tumbling 1 Original Oil Painting by Karen Balon

Tumbling 1 from the Tumbling Series of 4
Each piece is 12"x12" Oil on Canvas

Technically, Tumbling 1 is actually the last of the 4 that I painted.  If you compare the bodies of the 4 this one has a less "speckled" effect.  I am not sure why?  But somewhere deep inside the muse just guides me intuitively and that's the way it appears on the canvas.  I can never paint something the same way twice which is fine as each "jellyfish" is different and has it's own unique personality.
Yes, I do refer to them as jellyfish though they started out as a vision in my head and have morphed over time.  I actually see them to reside both in the Ocean and Deep Space.  Though you are welcome to see them as something else and somewhere else.

You may ask, why did I name this one number 1?  To me, it just feels like it's the One that is starting the tumbling and goes head over heels from there.  What do you think?

I love it when you Share my work and posts :-)
