This is one of two pieces selected for the Randy Higbee Six Inch Square Show opening in California on December 3. Randy has a great gallery and frame shop, and this is a great day for me to be included.

Weather Changing by Janet Bludau, Palette Knife Seascapes
6" x 6"
Oil on Board
$75
Can be purchased through this link to my website: http://janetbludau.fineartstudioonline.com/works/719767
I have painted a series of small paintings in this same color palette and all with the palette knife.
The 6" Squared Juried Show created by Randy Higbee is coming up so I have been thinking small........ A few of these 6" pieces sold at a local show I participated in and then the buyer, an interior designer, asked me to paint two 4 feet by 4 feet paintings for her home in the same style and using a similar palette.

I can't remember a time that I didn't have an artistic pursuit but I found my true love with painting. Although I enjoy exploring with different techniques and materials, I primarily work in oils with an abstract style. Thick paint placed with a palette knife and strong geometric shapes are often found in my paintings.
After earning a degree in Business Admin/Marketing, I went on to several "Big Girl" corporate jobs and then owned and ran a design business in Hawaii, importing antiques from the mainland. My education was rounded out through the UC Berkeley Extension Art Program and the College of Marin Art and Design Program. I am fortunate to have had wonderful instructors as well as the insightful critiques of my fun, fellow painters.

Shortcut - Janet Bludau
6" x 6"
Oil on Panal
$75 Unframed
$150 in Floater Frame
This is a combination of brushwork and palette knife strokes. The fence is also done with a palette knife in case it doesn't show in the photo. I have left some of my underpainting showing through a bit in spots - I love this look. This is one of the pieces I am entering (image only so painting is available for purchase!) to be considered for a page in a landscape calendar. It will also be shown at an art show this Saturday in Newport Beach in a floater frame from Randy Higbee's Art and Frame. I can be emailed for an image of the frame or artwork within the frame.
My website is being reworked but it is together enough that I will post the link here if you want a look. Just know that its not all perfect and beautiful yet!
