Namibia Impressions 23, Shimmering Impressions 2 by Marion Hedger

Namibia Impressions 23, Shimmering Impressions 2
Oil palette knife painting by Marion Hedger
15x15cm (6x6inches) on box canvas (staples on the back, for smooth sides)

Looking into the distance it is impossible to tell where the sea ends and the sky starts. Painted on a smooth blended background with touches of impasto as shown in the photo. The cool pastel colours invoke the early morning light.

Part of my Fundraising for the "Save the Rhino Namibia Trust" 50% goes to the trust.

Namibia Impressions 3, Save the Rhino Fundraising by Marion Hedger

Namibia Impressions 3 - Swakopmund Fog
Oil painting by Marion Hedger
30x30cm oil on MDF canvas panel

This painting evokes the heat and heat haze. Even in the evenings the air is hot. The background is blended paint that has been enhanced with impasto palette knife work suggesting the shimmering colours seen on a hot day.

After spending some time in the Desert Rhino Camp in the Kunene area of Namibia earlier this year, I have a fondness for the desert-adapted black rhino. They live in a desolate area in the North-west of Namibia and are monitored and protected by the rangers of the Save the Rhino Trust. These black rhinos are highly endangered and face a constant threat of extinction due to poaching. The Save the Rhino Trust does a great job with minimum resources.

FUND RAISING
To help raise awareness and raise funds for the hard working rangers I am participating in a challenge to paint 30 paintings in 30 days starting on the 1st September. Each day for the next 30 days, I will post a painting. 50% of all net profits from these paintings will go to the trust - So please spread the word and help the cause. In a world where many of our animals are disappearing, every bit of help is an advance.

And how it might look framed
