The members of the Palette Knife Painters group all paint using palette knives most of the time ... but to keep our work fresh, and to keep ourselves fresh, some of us also work in other mediums using other tools as well. "Cheyenne Spirit Echinacea (Coneflower)" by Karla Nolan

This is a simple painting -- there are a number of colors in the petals of this particular type of coneflower (Latin name:  echinacea) and I wanted the focus to be on the flower itself.  You might know of this plant for its alleged herbal effects, an immune system booster, used for centuries in naturopathy  It also grows well where we live and, I believe, this may be a hybrid of the traditional purple flower that is so well known.  There is a bit more color here, with more reds and oranges merging into the long petals.
