Morning at JayCee Park, Plein Air

I painted this at JayCee park Thursday, it was nice out, started out a bit chilly but it got perfect real fast. Its 8 x 10 inches oil on Masonite. I tweaked it a little bit at home, I had some hanging palm fronds in the palm tree that just looked weird and I added the sea gulls. They were there and were hoping for hand outs. The little blue heron was there as well, he was pretty tame.

I was born in Ft. Pierce and lived there all my life. I have an Associate in Art degree from the Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce. I consider myself primarily self taught.I am a member of Plein Air Florida, and the leader of Plein Air Painters of the Treasure Coast. My paintings are in art collections worldwide.I have co-published an article in Plein Air Magazine. I have contributed paintings to Art for Nature, Heathcote Botanical Gardens, Habitat for Humanity and various other charities.I love painting outside using the painting knife. I've had this commission for several months - before Christmas but my life has been so topsy-turvy lately that I'd let the painting slide. It's an excuse.

People have gone through worse tragedies and misfortunes and have yet had the tenacity to pick up a brush or palette knife and worked through it.

My heart is on it's way to recovery and my days, while still hectic can be tamed a bit. I have good people, good friends who have supported me and kept me going. I am so blessed with this - My Life.

At any rate, the commissioner was patient and allowed me to take all the time I needed...and so here is her painting...I've tentatively titled it "Sailing". She is free to rename this, of course.
