"Dahlia in Stripes" Original Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
I felt a lot of freedom with this painting and must be making progress. Not too long ago I would have measured and drawn those horizontal lines in and thought the spacing had to be exact, that they had to be touching without blending, etc. Not fun stuff fighting against ones natural tendencies. I think I was an architect in a previous life. ;)

"Just Because" Original Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
I love this softer color palette with the bright pops of orange. For this painting I used a very limited palette of five colors and white: cadmium yellow medium and light, sap green, alizarin crimson, and cerulean. It makes for such nice color harmony.
Continue to enjoy painting the flower bouquets using my palette knives. They require a LOT of paint on these larger canvases (although this particular one isn't too large) to get that thickness and those great knife marks. Enjoy!

"Dazzling Dahlia" by Karla Nolan, palette knife, brush oil painting
Flowers are so much fun and yet so challenging to paint. We've only
grown dahlias here and there, in fact it's been years since we've
planted them in our garden. Now that I've finished this painting, I may
just have to look into making this effort again, as I fell in love with
all the colors in this particular flower. More dreams of spring,
although it's not even winter. Can you tell my favorite season?
"Dazzling Dahlia", 8"x10" palette knife and brush oil painting on linen
