Crossing the Meadow in Progress
16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD Commission

This horse painting is for a new collector in the UK.  We have corresponded and I am ready to begin. She found a painting she liked that was 5 x 7 and completed in 2007, so we are using the same color palette and the spirit from that painting for her new Contemporary Horse Painting.

Summer is upon us here in Texas.  I have been busy with the last issue of Visual Language Magazine. If you have never seen it, you are missing out on fabulous art and studio visits with leading artists from around the world.

This month features a studio visit with Morgan Weistling and his wife JoAnn Peralta as well as one with American portrait artist David Darrow.

Here is the July issue of Visual Language. ENJOY!

Color Fast Final Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Color Fast
24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas.

From the tight sketch with black paint to the heavy stroking of palette knife oil... you have the finished painting. I am learning less it best as I begin to examine different approaches to the canvas.

Cannot wait to paint again tomorrow. Need to order more canvas as I have gone through two full orders of my specially stretched canvas from Rupen at http://canvasplace.com  He uses special smooth canvas on my ordered pieces, not the norm. I do not want a toothy surface to work on.

I imagine God would not like a 'toothy surface' to work on with us either, but being human we tend to really get dirty in life. We are full of mars and scratches and rough on the edges.  He is ever patient with us waiting for us to let go and let Him lead. It would be less wear and tear on our lives.

Keep it simple.

Continued Painting on Early Morning Race Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Golden Pond Studio

Continued Painting on Early Morning Race
28 x 42 inches Oil on Canvas.

Pushing further into development today, I did get to spend as much time painting as I wanted to.  I am still trying to find my way with the spirit of each horse in the composition.  I have not decided if they are at a racetrack or where they are. The area that is structured on the right, blues and reds, almost look like the stands.

Music in the studio today was Norah Jones... a favorite to paint by when I am trying to figure things out.

May your Wednesday be filled with His peace.

Progress on Crossing the County Line
30 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas.

This abstract Horse Painting is available through The White Dog Gallery in Colorado.  This is my second day of painting and it is waiting time... to come back tomorrow and look at it fresh and in reverse to see what last 'spice' needs to be added.
