The secrets of professional color mixing apply equally to paintings created with a brush or palette knife. Look at the nuances of color, and the color subtleties in the detail image shown here. I employed the same principles of color usage in this palette knife painting that I use when painting with a brush.

NOTE FOR ARTISTS: Color is your vocabulary in the language of painting. The better you learn it the more fluently you will express yourself in your paintings. My online art lesson "COLOR MIXING MADE EASY" (29 pages) explains both basic as well as advanced color mixing.

I like to alternate between painting with a palette knife and using a brush. Each is unique and alternating between the two painting methods keeps my work fresh in each medium. This one was done with a palette knife and it really sizzles with color.
