Mermaid's Delight, by New York artist, Celeste Plowden

I was thinking of the transparent aspect of undulating waves, and the different blues in the ocean when I painted this. 11x14 acrylic on canvas, sides painted, wired and ready to hang, UV varnish.

Original oil paintings by Karen Tarlton palette knife impressionism

I walked with Maggie down the street today and found a wonderful group of artists!
Planning on doing some plein air painting with them this weekend.
You can't beat the view in this studio :)

Original oil painting Mermaid Dance by Karen Tarlton

Mermaid Dance

Well it's been a beautiful Spring and the start to a lovely Summer.
I am now in San Diego and enjoying it so much.
Painting everyday, and running in the perfect weather on the ocean is inspiring.
I see seals and ocean birds everyday and boats of course so if you see
more ocean inspired paintings, you'll know why!
Somebody asked for Mermaids, and so here is the first :)
