Palette Knife Workshop With Oil Painter Kim McAninch
Explore with Kim how you can achieve vibrant colors in your paintings by layering oil paint with a Palette Knife.
This 6-hr. class will begin with a demonstration during which Kim McAninch will work on another in her palette knife series, BOATS. Kim’s background in interior design and as a wallpaper and fabric designer and are evident in her decorative BOATS Series. Her work is characterized by layering of complex color in dancing transition across the canvas. After the demonstration, Kim offer guidance as you create a painting of your own of a subject of your choosing. Printed boat reference will be offered, but the style lends itself to any simple subject. How can this style be incorporated into your creative expression? You will improve your application and movement of paint with palette knives, develop ways to handle negative space and expand your knowledge of color mixing. Oil-soluble and oil paints are both acceptable for this technique. Other supplies needed are a substrate on which to paint, various palette knives for experimentation, a mixing surface and paper towels. 45.00 members 50.00 non members
