Female Figure with Bird, by New York artist, Celeste Plowden

I find the colors used in 18th century old master drawings almost as alluring as the beautiful renderings, themselves. With broad stokes from my palette knife, I endeavor to pay homage to these wonderful artists. 11x14 acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, sides painted, wired in back and ready to hang, UV varnish. A Sanguine Approach, by New York artist, Celeste Plowden

I thought of the colors used in Old Mater drawings when choosing my palette for this painting, sanguine, sepia and white highlights .  I tried to imitate the wonderful blending of tones on the coffee and cream colored paper. 12x12 acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, wired and ready to hang, sides painted, UV varnish.
