Red Sky, Small Impressionist Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 8x8x1.5" Oil

My friend Kathy Garvey, or maybe it was her brother Pat, took the most beautiful series of photos of a sunset.  The sun is shown in several positions, peaking out from behind clouds, over the ocean.
purchase here

My plan is to do two or three of these as a series, showing the movement of the sun behind the clouds.  This is number 1

My thanks go out to Pat and Kathy, for being to generous with their photos and allowing me to use them as a reference.

"Red Sky Falling" by Karla Nolan

This was the impossible sunset.  Red clouds dropping from the sky.  I painted it several times, more than several, but who wants to admit defeat, really?  This time....well, I think I may have captured it -- the pale, pale blue over the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the red, pinks, oranges dropping over a bit of tinge from the sunlight that was fading away for that piece of time.....a day...onto the next bit of time, the night -- where imaginations and stars can run wild.

"Red Sky Falling", 8"x8" unframed, palette knife oil painting onto gesso board, $135 includes shipping and handling in the continental U.S., click Paypal button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

Thank you for looking at my art!
