This beautiful bird sat quietly on the rock while I approached and seemed quite willing to have his picture taken. The photo was great, hence the oil portrait to follow. I believe this guy dwells more in the western states than in the east. I did most of the painting with a palette knife, but there are always a few little corners that become more accessible with a brush. It is available from the artist and is a small 5x7 oil painting.
