This is a very special painting for me. My grandson, Kevin, is obsessed with fishing. He probably has 20 or more rod and reels for everything from deep sea fishing to fly fishing. I surprised him this Christmas with a painting of one of his best ever fishing days.

Mountain Lake Fishing by Sharon Hodges
Fly fishing gets a bit more challenging when the calm morning mists burn off and the slightest breeze starts to nick the water surface....but, gosh, it is still really a great place to just be alive. This painting is 18x22, lots of surface action in the paint, primarily palette knife work. Currently drying in the studio. Available for purchase.

Greetings and thank you for visiting my blog. I have always loved oil paintings, and have felt a strong pull to explore this medium. As a lifelong admirer of Gauguin, Van Gogh, and Rousseau, my paintings generally display strong color, composition, and texture. I am thankful to have studied with gifted and talented teachers: Carol Marine, Qiang Huang, Kathleen dello Stritto, and Don Sahli. I have much to learn.
