Lavender Summer by Marion Hedger

Lavender Summer Provence Landscape
18x24cm (approx 7x10inch)
Oil on 3mm MDF canvas panel

This painting nearly slipped through the net. I painted it last year after my yearly trip to the lavender fields. For some reason I missed posting it! A shame because I really like the way it it turned out.

I thought you might like to see my inspiration photo. As you can see I used my artistic license to it's full extent, adding foreground colour and encouraging the far lavender field into bloom.

Tell me how you would have handled this photo.

Provence Landscape painting.

Looking through the trees, the lavender vista opens up.

An impressionistic palette knife oil painting of a lavender landscape in Provence showing the rows of lavender as seen through a group of trees. Painted on a pale pink ground, which pokes through in a few places to add sparkle.
This is an original painting.

Tarn Gorges by Marion Hedger
palette knife painting, Oil on panel
Painting Size = 34x27cm approx 11x14". Mounted on a white board so it can be framed in a standard frame.
Overall size = 30x40cm (approx 12x16"
These beautiful chasms run down each side of the Tarn River, a favourite tourist attractions in Southern France. Imagine yourself canoeing down the river encased in the sheer cliffs.

Painted with a palette knife you won't be able to resist touching the surface texture (as shown in the close-up photos).

You can hang it in a traditional frame or lean it against the wall on a shelf. The backing boards forms a natural border around the painting.

Paris Art Trek with Niki Gulley & Scott Williams

"Framed in Wisteria," Giverny, France • 7" x 5" oil painting by Niki Gulley

Day 7 - Art Trek Paris with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

The last few days of our Art Trek, we checked out of our hotel in Paris and headed to the peaceful countryside, near Giverny. The b&b we stayed at was straight out of a storybook, and the grounds themselves looked like an impressionist painting. We loved the setting so much, we stayed right there and painted outside our rooms the last day.

Our b&b outside of Giverny.

One of our students painting on the last day of our Paris Art Trek, on the grounds of our b&b.
