New "Tuscan Dreams" Palette Knife Poppy Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Tuscan Dreams" ©2016 Niki Gulley

24" x 24" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Inspired from a wonderful trip to Tuscany, I wanted this piece to be uplifting and full of joy and energy. Set beneath a colorful sky with a few clouds drifting by on a beautiful day in springtime, the poppies and wildflowers are in full bloom. Using broken impressionistic strokes in surprising hues, causes the landscape to dance and flow, and I hope all of your cares drift away while gazing into this cheerful scene.

You can paint and photograph these very views if you join us for our Tuscany Workshop in 2017. Don’t miss out on an amazing trip! Space is filling up quickly and there are a few spaces left so that you can experience Tuscany yourself. See nikigulley.com/artreks for details or e-mail Niki Gulley for more information.

Textured Bluebonnet oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Texas Pride II" ©2012 Niki Gulley

20" x 30" textured oil painting on canvas

I painted these Texas bluebonnets and with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture. The resulting image comes to life and is loaded with color and energy. In this wildflower series, I've painted the scene around the edges of the canvas on 1 and 1/2" deep stretcher bars so that the painting can be hung without a frame for a unique sculptural effect.

If you are interested in this original painting or in Texas Pride II as a canvas print, please e-mail Niki Gulley for more information.

Painting Workshops in Greece with Niki Gulley

“Rooftop View” © 2010 Niki Gulley

Oil painting • 10” x 20”

Journeying on from Rome, we next flew to the gorgeous island of Santorini to complete the research for our next workshop we’re teaching in Greece, May 2011. The Aegean didn’t disappoint. It was just as we remembered from our honeymoon, with gorgeous blue waters contrasting with the brilliant white-washed Greek homes stacked along the Caldera. With the breath-taking views, all you can do is simply relax and soak in all that beauty.

Adult Art Classes with Niki Gulley

“Rhythmic Waters VI” ©2010 Niki Gulley

12” x 12” oil on canvas

I created this ocean scene with palette knife and extremely thick oil paint to achieve texture and suggest the energy found in nature. I wanted to capture that magical moment when the sun sets near the horizon and casts it’s sparkling glow over the ocean’s surface while illuminating the sky. The image is painted around the sides of the 1.5 inch deep gallery wrap canvas so that it looks three-dimensional and can be hung as is without a frame for a contemporary look. These chunky ocean paintings look great in pairs, threes and fours.

To see my “Rhythmic Waters” series in person, stop by my booth at the Art Street Green Bay art show this weekend in Green Bay, WI. For more information on the show, go to artseventsinc.com/artstreet.
