Catching the Moon by Burton Hanna

On a beautiful early, early morning in January, I was watching looking out my back window and saw the moon setting between the the trees.  It just happened to be between a couple of branches and the sight inspired me.  I went to my studio and painted this before I could loose the memory, or the feeling.

If you can imagine looking at the setting moon on a cold winter morning and seeing the moonlight reflecting off the bare branches.  The sun hasn't fully risen and you're warm with a fresh cup of coffee viewing the endlessly wandering moon suddenly caught by a birch tree. 

This is a 16 x 20 inch original palette knife oil painting.

I am finally finishing the paintings I started on my wild flower tour of South Texas in April. These are poppies I painted while standing in a field of them at the Wild Seed Farm in Fredericksburg, TX. What an amazing site, a field of red poppies blowing in the wind.

30 Day Painting Challenge- Day 3 Rose by Ann McCann 5 x 7 Oil

I am still continuing with my rose theme.  Here is my 3rd rose.  It is called "Valentine" and is more mauve than red.  It just keeps blooming in my yard.  I hope we don't have a freeze in the next 26 days!

During September I completed a series of paintings of my local city, Manchester, England. We have had some lovely clear sunny weather, so you can see this reflected in this painting. So yes, when I was standing there in the street painting the colours really were as vibrant as they are in this painting!
