Palette Knife Workshop- Pittsburgh PA USA

Register at :  http://www.southartspittsburgh.org/south-arts-gallery-classes/

Kim welcomes back artists from previous workshops that want to continue where they left off as well as artists new to palette knife painting.  It promises to be a fun day developing your unique style! Explore with Kim McAninch how you can achieve vibrant colors in your paintings by layering oil paint with a Palette Knife. This 6-hr. class will include an in-depth demonstration of mixing paint and styles of application with a variety of knives.

Kim’s background in interior design and as a wallpaper and fabric designer and are evident in her decorative BOATS and DUNES Series.   Her work is characterized by layering of complex color in dancing transition across the canvas.  After the knife demonstration, Kim offers guidance as you create a painting of your own of a subject of your choosing.  Printed reference will be offered for artists who want suggestions for the day’s work.  How can this style be incorporated into your creative expression?  You will improve your application and movement of paint with palette knives, develop ways to handle negative space and expand your knowledge of color mixing.

Oil-soluble and oil paints are both acceptable for this technique.  Other supplies needed are a substrate on which to paint, various palette knives for experimentation, a mixing surface and paper towels. You can see samples of her work at kimmcaninchfineart.com. Supply list upon registration. Bring a lunch.
