Have the Blues? by Pamela Blaies

7" x 5"
Oil on Canvas

Did you know that hydrangeas change color depending on the ph balance of the soil? More acid makes the petals turn blue and more alkaline makes them turn pink and all variations of purple in between. I like to keep mine blue and this year they were a great shade. Thick impasto texture in this painting make the lush blue petals come alive.

I love to share stories of the inspiration behind my paintings. Sign up to become a VIP Member and you will receive my email newsletter twice a month.
