Dory Fleet is at one of the two Newport Beach piers in California.  The fishermen bring their catch here very early in the morning and it is one of the places we can go to purchase the freshest of the fresh local fish.  It is a busy place with slippery wooden docks and buckets of ice and big knives slicing through,  well,  fish.  I did part of this painting "plein air" which means, outside and at the site, basically.  The Newport Beach City Visitors Bureau called the Southern Ca. Plein Air Painters Association and asked for volunteers to show up at this very "local" spot and paint for their cameras.  I am a member and volunteered!  In a week or two I will post two other paintings I worked on at the same time.  One is of the very famous Crab Cooker Restaurant and the second is of Charlie's Chili Restaurant.  Charlie's is not as well known with the tourists but is a hole in the wall type place at the base of the pier that you just have to know about if you have lived in Newport for any length of time.
