AMERICANA, PLEIN AIR PALETTE KNIFE LANDSCAPE BY TOM BROWN





I painted this little jewel during a Plein Air workshop I conducted for other artists today at a restful scenic spot outdoors in the warm sunshine.

This painting was done with a palette knife to achieve the bold painterly effects I wanted to capture. Using the knife this way for applying the paint results in a rich, juicy surface texture.

The painting is about the paint itself as much as the subject. I was very pleased with the results. Hope you like it too.
