Getting good photographs of exotic animals is not always easy. Zoos and refuges are good places to try and this painting was based on a close-up photo I was fortunate enough to capture. Unfortunately, the eyes in the photograph were too dark making it impossible to use as a photo....but....it sure made good source material for a painting. Everything except the eyes was done with the palette knife and it has such great texture. The painting is 20x20 making this the largest work I have ever tried solely with a knife. It was great fun and the end result is lots of texture along with a great close-up. It is available directly from the artist. Contact at
