The Odd Couple by Kay Wyne

The Odd Couple
8" x 8" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Painting #13 of the 30-30 Challenge
These two roosters have lots of paint on them since I used the palette knife to apply the paint.  This little palette knife painting was fun to do, and I tried to keep them simple. They are having a good look at each other --- no words needed, just a look.  This little piece is available for sale.  Contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com for more information.  Thanks so much for looking at this blog.  Have a great Monday.  KMW  p.s.....if you are participating in the 30 - 30 Painting Challenge, keep on painting!

The One On The Run by Kay Wyne

The One On The Run
8" x 8" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Yesterday I stuck with the rooster theme, but changed it up as I only put out three colors on my palette. Ivory Black, Napthol Red, and Titanium White....I thought it would be hard, but it was fun and easy.  I learned that if you drop a really small palette knife just the wrong way, it will destroy the tip.  I would normally just throw it away, but I was able to use it backwards, as it was bent way out of shape. This rooster is in action, running from something....maybe the 30 day challenge!!! ha.  It is fun checking out all of the painting on the Slices of Life by Leslie Saeta blog.  Thanks for looking.  KMW

Don't Even Think About It by Kay Wyne

Don't Even Think About It
36" x 18" Original Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Palette Knife Painting
This rooster is filling the canvas with attitude. He is colorful and full texture. I thought he was completed several days ago, but I kept going back to him and adding some details. I painted it on a heavy duty canvas, so it is pretty good size, and he has a presence when he hangs on the wall. I experimented with the background color, which is a mixture of many hues of blue and green paint....nothing straight out of the tube. He is drying at the studio...thanks for looking at my art and please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this rooster. Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

Rooster in progress...by Kay Wyne

This contemporary palette knife painting is in progress.....probably 95% complete. I was very generous with the paint yesterday (I have the cad red in my hair to prove it!) The paint is layered on the canvas with the palette knife. I need the paint to set up before I do anything else. This rooster is on a 24" x 24" gallery wrap canvas, and will not need a frame. I hope to put the finishing touches on this guy today, then sign him and name him! Thanks for viewing.....Kay
