Windy December by Kay Wyne

Windy December
8" x 10" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Landscape Plein Air
As I post this today the wind is howling and makes me feel as I did the day I painted this small painting.  It was a cold and windy day at White Rock Lake.  As you can imagine, it was hard keeping all of my painting equipment together.  I started with a brush, but ended up painting with a palette knife.  I was painting with a Monday morning plein air group.  Outdoor situations make you paint fast and deliberate.  I probably need to get out of the studio and paint outdoors more in 2015.  This painting is for sale....contact Kay if you have comments or questions.  Thanks for looking....Kay

"The Fox Says" Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

I know foxes seem kind of trendy right now, but my three-year-old has loved them his "whole entire life". This fox was his request, along with the purple background, and will hang in his bedroom.

Have you heard the song, "What Does the Fox Say"? Dancing with the Stars did an awesome dance to it. Here is a You Tube clip if you missed it. So good!  http://youtu.be/NFCtLxuhVvU

"Zinnia" Original Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

Every year I plant the giant size zinnia seeds by our front entry. It's great to have that color last into early fall and fun to see what colors come up. Besides that, the butterflies love them.

"A Little Birdie" Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

Was looking over my collection of paintings this past week, and realized there wasn't nearly enough blue. Found this sweet little bird photo and thought he fit the bill perfectly! I love the way it looks like a tiny little ball of fluff. Enjoy!

"Golden Gate Bridge" Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

My sister lives in San Francisco, and our mom has been there visiting. Was missing her more than usual this week, so decided to do this painting. Used an app I learned about from a wonderful artist named Julie Ford Oliver called Paper Canvas. This allowed me to see the photo in a new way, and I really enjoy the finished painting. Hope you do too!

Yellow Jug - Janet Bludau

8" x 8"
Oil on Board
$95 plus shipping
I so enjoyed painting this piece.  It all seemed to come together easily with the final product making me smile.  The color combo is a favorite of mine and applying the thick, creamy paint of the flowers was fun.
Email me to purchase this painting that hopefully will make you smile, bring you some fun and hey, maybe your life will come together easily!

Baldwin Beach, Maui - Janet Bludau

Have any of you ever been to Baldwin Beach?  I can't remember if it is in Kahului, where the airport is on Maui or in Paia, the next town up.  I do remember that it gets windy in the afternoons so its best to plan your visit early.  The trees are also famous for their thorny roots so you best be donnin your
"slippas" (flip-flops, thongs, sandles, go-aheads) before going for a walk anywhere near them.  They do provide wonderful shade though.
6x6 oil on Board looks great when mounted in a floater frame, as shown below.

Floral Color Study I

I wish I could come up with a word to describe palette knife painting.  Sometimes I feel like I'm sculpting more than painting.  Paintsculpting is really what it is.  I love the globs of painting to jump off the canvas and even better at least for me, is when I fight the temptation to run my fingers across the hills of paint.  Yummy! In an attempt to study the impact color has on floral pieces I completed this Floral Color Study.  For more information please visit my blog Here
