"Grey Day in the Foothills" by Northern California Artist Mark Bidstrup

Grey day behind our house in the foothills. We don't have many foggy days up here, but a few did creep up from the valley for some nice atmosphere. A nice study from a location that quickly drops off into the middle fork of the American River.

6"x8" Oil on Linen panel. $155.00 shipped. This looks great in a black plein air frame.

"Smoldering Sunset" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting

This is seriously one of my all time favorite paintings.  It's basically my back yard at sunset in the winter.  I painted it a while back, lost track of it (yes, that happens in my studio, sadly), found it again recently and was thrilled to see it again.  In fact, I'm almost tempted to not sell it but someone out there needs this for some oomph in his or her life!

"Autumn Pear" By Northern California Artist Mark Bidstrup

I'm doing a series of pears in small formats at this time. Good fun!

I picked this pear from a orchard that has been left to it's own devices for some time. The only pears left were out of the reach of the many deer that roam these foothills.

6"x6" Oil on Panel.  Unframed and shipped at $225.00

"Let It Snow!" by Karla Nolan, miniature, rocky mountain, winter

Okay, okay, I just couldn't resist painting this!  Our beautiful autumnal weather has disappeared and in its place is snowy weather complete with frigid temperatures.  This snowfall has had beautiful, giant snowflakes, much as you see in the painting.  It's a great time to hang out indoors or, if you have to, shovel the driveway and sidewalk, but the roads are freezing up and it's best to avoid driving if possible!  I heard on the news that over 204,000 new residents from warm states have migrated to our lovely Colorado -- be safe on those slippery roads, folks!

"Full Moon Night Scene" by Karla Nolan, miniature palette knife oil painting

Ah, a return to the silhouette of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains just outside my front door....I know I sound a bit obnoxious, going on and on about what a privilege it is to live where I do in northern Colorado, but it truly is the case!  This is the sort of view in which I get to indulge myself and I never tire of it...welcome to my sweet world!
