Layers of paint, drips of paint, palette knife work, brush work, and a large palette full of color made this painting fun and exciting for me. I wish I had photographed all the steps and the process that I took to get to this point. "Dreaming" was inspired by a beautiful floral bouquet. This painting has large chunks of color on the linen. I blocked in the paint with my palette knife, giving the tulips a very distorted look. The light was bright at the Arboretum when I took a photograph of a beautiful field of tulips. I zoned in on the colors and shapes, painting only what I saw....not what I thought I saw.
