Island Marketplace, Large Figurative Painting, 52x26x1.5" Original Painting

I consider myself to be a daily painter.  As a daily painter, most of my work is small, many times just 6x8".

My painting today is a different story at 52" x 26".  Not my largest painting ever...but right up there.

I enjoy painting large, but it does present other issues.  Framing or no frame?  Such a large piece means a large investment in framing....a frame your client may or may not approve.

Where do I store it?  Not everyone has the luxury of a spacious studio.  I am one of those people.  Since downsizing, I have even less space to store unsold artwork.

The logistics of painting such a large piece, is not to be ignored.  My aging knees protest at the thought of climbing up and down a step stool to paint.

So, this piece may continue to be one of my rare, larger efforts.

In the Surf, 11x14" Child Oil Painting,Daily Painting,Small Oil Painting , Figurative Painting SOLD

It may seem an odd time to post a child playing in the surf, for many of you, but here in the land of sunshine, anything is possible.

Actually this was a commission and also a surprise for the lucky Dad.

SOLD

I had my usual problem of photographing blues accurately.  The water is much more of a blue gray in real life.

The face is in shadow and her pony tail did not show in the photo, so we had to make our own.

My favorite part of this composition was the great reflections in the water.

Figurative Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 14x18" Figurative Oil Painting "Just another Sunset", SOLD

This painting was a Christmas commission of two young sisters.

SOLD
I love the composition of this painting.  Two loving sisters, with that protective arm around the little one.

The big challenge here was to represent the beautiful sunset, without allowing it to become the bride of the painting.

My client was wonderful, commissioning me way back in August, which allowed me plenty of time to complete this painting.

Thanks so much for viewing my blog today.

Cowgirl Portrait, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Redheaded Cowgirl", 6x8" Oil

95.00 + shipping
I few years ago, I went to a real cattle drive in Florida. Cattle were herded across the state and cowboys and cowgirls spent a week on horseback and in covered wagons.   They ate from the chuck wagon and slept outside on the ground.   I found this cowgirl resting next to a campfire on the last day of the drive.

I painted this several years ago, but for one reason or another, have never posted it before.

If you have never painted a redhead, I highly recommend it.  Such fun!

This piece is part of my "Women in Hats" series.

This hula painting is probably as close as I will get to Hawaii.......but that is okay.  I can hear the music and the palms rustling in the breeze.

I wonder if they can sit in those grass skirts.  It seems they would be VERY uncomfortable!

Curbside Discussion
. SOLD

This was a photo taken from a block party where there were families everywhere and children clustering having fun.  Again a break from the horses and so much fun to do.

Water's Edge in Progress by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

Water's Edge
24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas.

A new one on the easel.. in progress. This is from a photo that I have painted from before and it was time to change up the background and adjust things for a different feeling. Nothing pulls at the heart more for me than painting a child standing before the wide open ocean... realizing it is vast what is before her... just as her life is before her.

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.  1John5:12
