Collage of Fruit Paintings by Lynda Cookson

These paintings of lemons, a pawpaw, different coloured peppers, a few flowers and a red and green apple, are prime examples of how folk are attracted to the title of a painting just as much as they are to the painting itself.

I used humour to title them ... for example "You Just Missed the Red One" (bottom centre where the red pepper, in the original full sized painting, was seen only as the edge of it going off the painting); and "There Goes the Green One" (bottom left). The pawpaw and lemons pastel, and the red and green apples pastel remain in my private collection to this day. All others sold many years ago.
