Fall Along the Banks, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Fall Along the Banks
11x14 oil on canvas panel
When my friend, Jill Randall and I planned to go painting we weren't sure where. I wanted somewhere that was new and exciting.   We drove around until we drove past Jill's friends, Janice's house. She lives on the banks of the Brazo's River in Granbury.
It was new and exciting for me. The fall colors against the blue of the water really inspired me.  This is available for purchase.  $300.00

Autumn's Allure, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Autumn's Allure
8x10 oil on canvas

This was captured on location near my home in Granbury. My neighbor and painter friend, Jill Randall paint on location as often as we can.  The day was gray, but the alluring colors were popping. This is available for purchase. $225.00

This is my last post for 2014. It was a productive year with many successful ventures.
Next year will start off with 2 new opportunities.
I will be the featured artist for the Visitor's Center in Granbury. 116 West Bridge Street, Granbury, Tx 76048. It is off the square next to Farino's Restaurant.  It will feature my landscapes paintings and will hang the month of January. Please stop by and check it out.
The next is a group show at the Ft. Worth Library. It will feature a western theme with local landscapes.  I will post more more information as it gets closer to the opening.
Have a great new 2015.

"Magenta in the Sky" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

Vibrant colors in the sky for this miniature painting on glass, sold framed as shown!  Magenta was the "in" color when I lived outside of St. Louis in the 1960's, I remember that as if it were yesterday.  I convinced my mother to buy me an "outfit" in that bright, hot color, but I felt conspicuous in it, as it was a new hue for me.  I mainly lived in red.  It doesn't seem that long ago to me, I know that decades have past, but I still like the magenta tones in the skies when I see them!

"Magenta in the Sky", 5"x5" framed painting on glass (measured edge to edge glass), $100 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button on my blogspot listed below or write me for more information at

Thanks for viewing my art!  Greetings from Fort Collins, Colorado

Pansy Painting, Flower Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Perky Pansies" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil, SOLD

On a cold January morning a flower painting seems perfect to start the day.

This little piece sold at our group Christmas sale last month.  Thank you Helen Wheatly for your purchase and your very kind words.

When I see pansies, one of my favorite flowers, I always remember coming to visit my grandmother.  We lived in Ohio and a winter trip to Florida was always welcomed.  My grandmother would always have her yard planted with pansies, which are a winter flower in Florida.

Stay warm today....wherever you are!

PS:  I will soon have some exciting news to share with you.....stay tuned in!

This painting has a new home!  This is one of my Wildflower Landscapes that I painted in 2014.  I worked on a series of them, and have explored many possibilities with this subject matter.  I am starting next year out with a paint challenge, and hoping to have a creative and productive 2015.  I think I will paint whatever I feel like painting...with Roosters and Cows at the top of my list.  I hope you all have a safe and fun New Years Eve!  Kay

Roseate Spoonbill - Florida Bird Painting - Nancy Medina Art

 Florida Spoonbill Painting
by Nancy Medina
Oil on Linen

I've been wanting to paint a Spoonbill for some time, mainly because they are beautiful birds, and they are pink! Since I'm heading to Florida very soon to teach, it seemed a good time to unveil my Roseate fellow. Upon closer inspection, with his spoon shaped nose, perhaps he is does not cut the elegant silhouette of the Blue Heron, but I still find him very appealing, with his lemon yellow face paint and his scarlet feathers. Wouldn't it be kismet if I were to actually see one of these fellows during my visit? If so, you'll be the first to hear about it!

Tropical Landscape Art | Small Oil Painting | Daily Painting | Boat Painting | Retirement Dream by Carol Schiff | 6x8" Oil

We all have dreams....right?  Well, this is not my dream, but a client's.  It's a really nice dream, but I am already retired and no boat in sight!

My client dreamed about living in the tropics, on the water, a nice toy nearby and a pretty tropical garden.   If you have ever been in Florida, you will see these Poinciana trees everywhere in the central and southern portion of the state.  Of course, you have to be here at the right time of the year to see the beautiful blooms.

I hope all your dreams come true!

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Sunset Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Sunset in Costa Rico" by Carol Schiff, 8x10" Oil Framed

This photo does not really do it justice, but it is as good as I could get.  I don't like selling framed paintings because of the difficulty involved in shipping them, but decided to make this an exception to the rule.

"Red Sunset in Winter" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

I've resumed painting on glass and present you with my version of a snowy evening with a vivid sunset!  This sort of art can be trying to produce, there are always the unexpected color mixes, problems with tools, spills, and, of course, impatience!  I must say that I do enjoy the results, however, if not always the process!

TIP: To become better artist, you must do something different. One idea is to choose a workshop instructor whose style you like.

Approach their workshop with a willingness to try new things.

A good instructor will help you take what they know and make it your own, so that it fits your own unique style. You can make a quantum leap in record time, and start having a lot more FUN again.

For example I’ll be sharing for the first time 3 new approaches I’ve developed that anyone can use right away to take their painting skills to the next level.

My new Plein Air Workshop begins January 24th. It’s designed for all skill levels, from absolute beginners to experienced artists. We will be painting on location in Orange County, California at a variety of scenic locations.

We meet Saturday mornings from 9 to noon for 5 consecutive weekends to work directly from the inspiration of Nature.

I’ll begin each session with a brief demonstration, then I’ll work one-on-one with each student to help with the basic concepts and skills, including values, color, composition and more. I’ll also work with experienced artists on more advanced aspects of painting techniques.

If nothing changes, nothing changes. Let me show you how to make 2015 your breakout year!

Daily Painting, Landscape Painting, "In the Bamboo" 8x6" Oil Painting

As a child living in rural Ohio, my grandmother would visit from Florida, bringing along an exotic collection of seashells and postcards. There was always one or two postcards from McKee Gardens in Vero Beach. She  awakened a deep desire in live in this strange and beautiful tropical land.

Recently I made my first trip to McGee Gardens, a magical place filled with  tropical flora and  giant water lily pads.

I was fascinated with the bamboo stands, so abstract in their shapes.

It's always nice when a childhood dream comes true............Thank you Grandma.

Abstract Seascape, Daily Painting, Abstract Mxed Media "Sea Rhythm" 6x8" SOLD

The sea is so fascinating to me.  I love the thought of all the life under the surface of the sea....movement as the waves are pulled to the shore, tiny sea creatures burrowing into the sand..........

Jelly fish that look like man-made objects, balloons, or aliens...........

So many interesting and exciting things going on that we are totally unaware of.  All we see is the beautiful surface of the sea.

This piece is inspired by that thought.  The paint is an example of pouring technique, along with texture and metallic elements.  Although the metallic has photographed in a warm color, it is actually silver.  Much experimenting going on in my studio these days. Feel free to pin it!

Violet Sky Sunflowers and Going to the Birds - Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina Art

Violet Sky Sunflower Solo
by Nancy Medina
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Violet Sky Sunflower Solo was one of a few new paintings progressing in Flower Mound Studio, including a rendition of one of my favorite birds, the Roseate Spoonbill. I love these birds because they! I'm still working on this little feathered fellow, right now he looks a bit like he's just survived a hurricane, so his plumes need combing and his legs need a shave, too, while we're at it! Today the hubby came home from work with a bug, so I've been nursing hubby, obeying the pugs, and painting. At least I'm getting my exercise, not to mention reacquainting myself with that room I rarely enter, the kitchen. There's a big white square thing with fire coming out of it, I'm pretty sure that's the stove. Thank goodness they invented the microwave, though. I shudder to think what would happen if I turned on that thing that produces actual flames.

Roseate Spoonbill, in need of a bit of grooming....

Windy December by Kay Wyne

Windy December
8" x 10" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Landscape Plein Air
As I post this today the wind is howling and makes me feel as I did the day I painted this small painting.  It was a cold and windy day at White Rock Lake.  As you can imagine, it was hard keeping all of my painting equipment together.  I started with a brush, but ended up painting with a palette knife.  I was painting with a Monday morning plein air group.  Outdoor situations make you paint fast and deliberate.  I probably need to get out of the studio and paint outdoors more in 2015.  This painting is for Kay if you have comments or questions.  Thanks for looking....Kay

Abundance Poppies - Poppy Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina

 Abundance Poppies by Nancy Medina
Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas

Abundance Poppies is the newest floral in Flower Mound Studio, finished on Christmas Day - I'm warming up my poppy brushes for poppy bloom in Tuscany in June. Mom and I had Christmas cookies for dinner last night, and this morning we had Christmas breakfast with friends. Carlos is in the kitchen doing what he loves best, cooking - and I have requests for two more plates of holiday cookies before the week is done. I hope you are doing something you love today, with loved ones nearby, and you have much abundance coming your way for the New Year. Holy cow it will be 2015 before we know it!

Warming up the red brushes on Christmas Day!
