Once in awhile I fall in love with a painting and do it again!  I painted one like this awhile ago and when it sold promised myself I would bring it new life.  Well here it is!

SOUTHWEST MOONRISE, TOM BROWN MINIATURE OIL PAINTING

For a very limited time I am offering this painting at a special Holiday Price of just $50 plus shipping. “DESERT MOONRISE” is a 4x6 inch original plein air oil painting ready to frame. For purchasing details email me directly: tombrownstudio@cox.net

When time or circumstances do not permit a larger painting these small sizes allow me to explore an idea, capture a moment on location or work out problems before launching into a large painting in the studio. This original oil painting is a little jewel with lots of sparkle. It was painted directly from nature in the late afternoon, using the small “Stealth Paintbox” seen in my recent YouTube videos. Thanks for watching.

This palette knife painting is loose and colorful. I used the knife on most of the painting, so there is some texture and thickness to the paint. I also used oil sticks in the background. This painting needs a frame and a new home. If you are interested in this painting, or any of my art, please contact me. Thanks for looking! Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com.

RED FILLY ABSTRACTED BAY HORSE by OLGA WAGNER

Another small abstract, using holbein acrylics... Love the colors and the creamy texture of that brand... Inspiration for this one was my mare, Shelby...She will be turning 28 yrs old this coming March and is living a happy retired life at a private barn in the area...As a youngster, she was a shiny read with a striking black mane and tail...

"Ivory Refrain" textured aspen oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Ivory Refrain” ©2011 Niki Gulley
24” x 30” textured oil on canvas

Scrolling bark peels back like white washed parchment revealing secrets in the deeply textured wood below. A painting of grace and beauty, it’s verticality offset by embracing branches wound round as a sheltering arm. Each stroke is crisp, vivid, defined by thick textured oil, rich colors strike a reververberating chord – purple and the compliment of gold create a visual vibration that resonates in an optical song.

HOLIDAY PRICES, TOM BROWN ACEO, POSTCARD, POCKET PAINTING ART CARD

This original oil painting is a little jewel with lots of sparkle. Paintings this size are known by various names such as miniatures, ACEOs (Art Cards Editions & Originals), postcard paintings or pocket paintings. And they are highly collectible. When time or circumstances do not permit a larger painting these small sizes allow me to explore an idea, capture a moment on location or work out problems before launching into a large painting in the studio. This painting is a mere 4”x3”. It is small enough to fit in your pocket or use as an elegant bookmark. And yet in the right frame it will make a beautiful statement in any room of the home. (This painting is sold unframed.)

Horizon Series: Abstract Aspens #1111 by Kay Wyne

Horizon Series: Abstract Aspens #1111
This contemporary palette knife painting has layers and layers of color and texture. I started with a base coat of warm gray on sides and front of canvas. After putting my horizon line in, I used oil sticks and brush to apply color. Using the palette knife, I started putting trees in from the horizon line. I wanted more violets, blues and grays to dominate on the canvas. The crimson, burnt orange and turquoise bounce off the cool colors, giving the piece some contrast. The canvas is 36" x 48", and is ready to hang...no fame needed on the gallery wrap canvas. Thanks for viewing this blog and my art.....Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

No Boundaries by Kay Wyne

No Boundaries
20" x 60" Oil on Linen Gallery Wrap
I love the linen showing through on this contemporary aspen painting. When I started painting, I wanted the viewer to be able to see the linen. The natural linen is warm and rich in color. I used a wide, flat brush and the palette knife to apply the oils. The 80" high canvas would look great on a vertical space with a high ceiling...it is ready to ship to the gallery in Santa Fe. Happy Thanksgiving

This oil on canvas is 24" x 48" and was started with large brushwork strokes then towards the middle I used large painting knives to complete this sunrise painting of the Mariposa, CA foothills.  The oak groves in the front have some interesting knife work which does not show up in this photograph.  Happy Thanksgiving to all and may we all live in peace.     www.pennyotwell.com

"Life's Journey" oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Life’s Journey” ©2011 Niki Gulley
46” x 44” oil on canvas

Follow the deep wood’s path and wander under a canopy of sheltering leaves, light shifts through each branch and twig. Long, late rays of sunlight pierce the dreaming autumn forest, as you enter shadows dapple your journey. You are walking down a loamy path, filled with color-drenched leaves that invite you into the purple shadows where you may seek your dreams. This oil painting of a tranquil wood’s trail inspires your journey and your dreams with lush colors and rich images of beauty ahead.

COW PAINTING by OLGA WAGNER

Here is the second painting in my "Prevailing Atmosphere" series... I am not sure that I am 100% happy with the name of this series - must sleep and ponder that some more. I am working on this series for my solo exhibition, which will be held in March at the Focal Point Gallery in Chapel Hill, NC.

The background is highly textured, which gives an interesting feel to the overall painting!

November Harvest by Pamela Blaies

10" x 8"

Painting this reminded me of a fun pumpkin patch we have around the corner from our house.  They have tons of pumpkins of all sizes to choose from and each year they grow tall corn and cut a maze out of it.  The kids watch the corn grow all September waiting in anticipation for the maze to be cut, so they can take the challenge.  I did this smaller painting as a study for a larger painting I'd like to create.  The textured corn husks and warm pumpkins seem to glow as if lit by firelight.

American Fine Art Gallery showing Niki Gulley

"Colorful Transformation" ©2011 by Niki Gulley
textured oil painting • 36" x 48"

Now showing at American Fine Art Gallery in Dallas, in Colorful Transformation, I wanted to focus on brilliant color and simple shapes to see if I could communicate the excitement I feel when surrounded by nature. Using energetic diagonal strokes and thick, textured paint, I hope you get a sense of the motion in the leaves and the power of nature to invigorate your spirit. I just love how this piece captured that essence!

Magical Thinking

Aspen groves in the Eastern Sierra send me into a magical world of color and sound that I've not seen or heard duplicated any where else.  I love the steep escarpment of the "East Side" -- the road I need to take to get there is now closed for the winter (Tioga Pass Road) due to snow, so I'm painting from memory and drawings made over there.  See more at    www.pennyotwell.com

I have been painting is this color palette lately and really like how displaying several of the pieces together looks.  This one has more orange than most of the others.  This is where I used the palette knife.  Most of this painting was done with a brush but because I have a few strokes with the knife I allowed myself to post it on this site.
